National Insurance Mediclaim Plans
National Insurance is one of the oldest PSU Company which also offers health insurance solutions to people at large. Health Insurance generally covers the hospitalization expenses arising out of illness or accident. It also comes with individual and family floater option. Individual health policy covers each individual with separate sum insured and family floater policy covers whole family members in one policy with common sum insured. Health insurance portability is available in health policy of all General insurance companies. Health insurance policy is one year contract with the insurance company, so the policyholder needs to renew it every year. Health Insurance policies offered by National Insurance are Critical illness policy which covers the policyholder against the risk of critical illness, Personal Accident policy covers the policyholder against the risk of accidental death, Mediclaim policy covers the hospitalization expenses and there is a separate Mediclaim policy for senior citizens.
National Insurance Mediclaim and other products
- Mediclaim Policy: National Insurance Mediclaim policy covers the hospitalization expenses. Entry age for the National Insurance Mediclaim policy is 18 years to 59 years with the sum insured option available from Rs. 50,000 to 5 Lacs maximum. Mediclaim policy is available for individual and family members. Some of the key features of the policy are 1% room rent sub limits subject to a maximum of Rs. 5,000 per day, I.C. unit sub-limits are 2% of sum assured subject to maximum of Rs. 10,000 per day. There are over all boarding and consultancy and disease sub-limits are also in the plan. Compulsory medical for new person above age of 50 years. Pre-existing diseases are covered after completion of continuous claim free four years. National Insurance has separate policy for students which cover the students against Mediclaim expenses and accidental death of the guardian due to accident. Before buying any Mediclaim policy, it is always better to check the exclusion list of policy. National Insurance has Mediclaim policy, for the people who are traveling abroad, which covers hospitalization expenses incurred abroad by policyholder.
- Mediclaim for Senior Citizens: Mediclaim policy for Senior Citizens is especially designed for senior citizens. Entry age for National Insurance Mediclaim policy is 60 years to 80 years with the 1 Lac sum insured option. Some of the key features of the policy are: Expenses for treatment of Critical Illnesses if policyholder opted in the policy, 1% room rent sub-limits, 30 days pre-hospitalization and 60 days post hospitalization cover, claim-free bonus of 5% for every claim free years, compulsory 10% co-payments. If insured opts for 20% co-pay then 10% discount in premiums is given.
- Personal Accident Policy: Personal Accident policy covers the policyholder against the risk of accidental death and disability. Some of the key features of the National Insurance personal accident policy are: Reimbursement in case of accidental death, loss of eyesight, permanent or total disability. Risk is classified as normal risk, medium risk and heavy risk depending on the job profile and nature of work carried out by the insured person. Cumulative bonus of 5% for every claim-free year up to a maximum 50% is given in the plan. National Insurance offers personal accident policy to NRI which covers NRI from the age of 5 years to 70 years and the sum insured option available is from Rs. 3 Lacs to 10 Lacs. Plan offers worldwide coverage.
- Critical illness policy: In critical illness policy, policyholder receives lump-sum amount which is equal to sum insured in the event of the mentioned critical illness like kidney failure, cancer and stroke etc. Before buying the critical illness policy it is always good to know what are the exclusions listed. Critical illness policy of general Insurance company is the one year contract, so the policyholder needs to renew the policy every year. Entry age for the National insurance critical illness policy is 20 years to 65 years. Some of the key features of the policy are: Coverage for 6 critical illnesses, sum insured option available from Rs. 5 Lacs to 25 Lacs, to avail the reimbursement under critical illness policy. The policy has an initial waiting period of 90 days and policyholder needs to survive 30 days after the diagnosis of the critical illness to get the claim.
General Exclusions: 1.Injury or disease directly or indirectly caused by or arising from or attributable to War Invasion Act of Foreign Enemy Warlike operations (whether war be declared or not).2Circumcision unless necessary for treatment of a disease not excluded hereunder or as may be necessitated due to an accident, vaccination or inoculation or change of life or cosmetic or aesthetic treatment of any description, plastic surgery other than as may be necessitated due to an accident or as part of any illness. 3.The cost of spectacles, contact lenses and hearing aids. 4.Any Dental treatment or surgery which is a corrective, cosmetic or aesthetic procedure, including wear and tear, unless arising from accidental injury and which requires hospitalization for treatment. 5.Convalescence general debility ?Run Down? condition or rest cure, congenital external disease or defects or anomalies, sterility, venereal disease, intentional self-injury and use of intoxicating drugs/alcohol. 6.All expenses arising out of any condition directly or indirectly caused to or associated with Human T-Cell Lymphotrophic Virus Type III (HTLB-III) or Lymphadinopathy associated Virus (LAV) or the Mutants Derivative or variations Deficiency Syndrome or any Syndrome or condition of a similar kind commonly referred to as AIDS. 7.Charges incurred at Hospital or Nursing Home primarily for diagnostic, X-Ray or laboratory examinations or other diagnostic studies not consistent with nor incidental to the diagnosis and treatment of positive existence or presence of any ailment, sickness or injury for which confinement is required at a Hospital/Nursing Home. 8.Expenses on vitamins and tonics unless forming part of treatment for injury or disease as certified by the attending physician. 9.Injury or disease directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by nuclear weapons/materials. 10.Treatment arising from or traceable to pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, abortion or complications of any of these including caesarean section. 11.Any treatment other than Allopathic System of Medicine.
