A family discount of up to 10 per cent of the total premium is available on health insurance plans where the husband, wife, dependent children and/or dependent parents are covered under same policy.

Alternatively, if you have young children and are unsure you need to purchase insurance for them, you could purchase the floater plan - where the insurance cover can be used by all the members or by a single-family member. For example, if a floater plan has been purchased for a sum of Rs.200,000, then either all four members of the family could use Rs. 50,000 each or one member could use the entire cover of Rs. 200,000. The premium for a floater health policy offers significant discounts as compared with the cost of an individual health plan.
