Sahara India Life Insurance Company Ltd. (SILICL) has earned a new premium business of 122.17 crore in 2007-08. The revenue from the new premium business for the fiscal year 2005-06 was Rs.21.81 crore and for 2006-07 it was Rs.43.17 crore.
Sahara Life Insurance possibly was not able to utilize the opportunity of the growing insurance industry. The hurdle in the growth could be the reluctant in widening the capital base allocated for expansion.
The capital base is roughly Rs. 232 crore with a network of 55 branches and agents force of 12,000. For a service industry such as insurance, the presence across the country is vital and plays a very important role in the expansion and growth for a particular company.
