A proposal is made to Securities and Exchange Board India by the mutual fund industry to allow them to offer insurance cover to investors along with their regular schemes.

Mutual fund companies may tie up with insurance companies to sell insurance cover where the insurance premium will be collected separately. The intention towards this proposal is to offer additional facility to mutual fund investors by tagging along insurance covers.

SEBI is thinking over the proposal.

However a segment of insurance industry is against the AMFI proposal.
