Date : 12 Feb, 2009 Question I am holding an NRI account with ICICI bank for the last 8 years and got a home loan (for self construction) approved by them about 4 months ago and they charged my about 22,000 rupees as loan processing charges. Based on their offer letter I started the initial works of construction and already spent a considerable amount of money for ground leveling and foundation. When I contacted the bank representatives in India for further procedures of financing, heard that they have stopped funding any projects in my district (Malappuram in Kerala). Now I am in a total mess because of this breach of trust by the bank. My questions are: 1. Can the banks be discriminatory by stopping the funding in only one district? 2. Why the bank was not aware of this policy while approving the loan and issuing the offer letter? 3.Is there any steps available to protect my interests from this breach of trust and to keep up my rights as a customer of the bank?
