Ford India is planning to export its Fiesta to
South Africa. The company has set a target to sell 5,000 Fiesta in the South
African market in the next six to eight
months.
The export will mark the first completely built up
units to any country by Ford India, which has been selling Ford Ikons in
selected markets as assembled kits.
Arnind Mathew, managing director and president,
Ford India told media that the company will also market the three variants of
Fiesta; the 1.4-litre, 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel at a press
conference in Chennai on September 13.
The car will be sold through Ford of South Africa
through its 131-strong dealership. There will be slight modifications in the car
according to South African conditions like a trailer-tow capability, H-rated
tyres etc.
