Date : 11 Feb, 2009 Question My brother was working in Dubai and took HSBC credit card loan. Before leaving UAE he asked the bankers that whether he can pay from India. They said he can. And after coming to India he approached a nearest branch for EMI to pay they were asking PAN card and other documents that my brother do not have since he stayed out for a long time. He is not going back. They said it is not possible to transfer money from india. He asked the banker to find out a convenient EMI since they loan was in Dhirams and not in Rupees. He has a clean record of other Indian Bank Credit Cards. He has given his contact number and address, email Ids to the bank and since for the last six months no call or any type of correspondence from the bank. He approached bank ombudsman to inform this but there they said he can not complain on a foreign bank. He worries about his reputation in India. Will this outstanding in UAE (Please remember there is no mode for transfering money from here to that bank account and he recently applied for the required documents)will affect his career on getting any loans or credit cards in india?
