Allahabad Bank is one of the oldest public sector banks in India with branches all over India. The bank, established in 1865, is headquartered in Kolkata.
Government of India is the largest share holder with about 70% stake. Allahabad got itself listed on the stock exchanges in 2002. It opened its first overseas branch in Hong Kong in 2007 and crossed the landmark of Rs 100,000 crore in business in the same year. It has a network of over 2060 branches and 116 extension counters.
Allahabad Bank is active in all spheres of retail banking - housing loan, education loan, car loan, loan against property, loan against securities and various types of personal loans for pensioners, doctors etc.
