Insurance via credit card

Posted on 10 August 2008 by mrp489

Citibank has imposed on me, a credit card without asking me and they billed for all sorts of insurance without my consent. When I did not pay, they sent my name to Credit Information Bureau (India) Ltd. After negotiations with Citibank, I cleared all the dues, and Citibank also gave me a certificate that no dues are pending and my credit card is also cancelled. Now, after going through your answers in HT (Saturday, Delhi edition), I have requested Credit Information Bureau (India) Ltd to reveal the credit status of mine. They refused to part with the information saying that they reveal the details only to the banks/financial institutions. I reminded them that according to Credit Information companies Regulations Act, 2005 they have to reveal the status on request. They declined to do so. When I wrote to Citibank, asking them to clarify if they wrote back to Credit Bureau after clearing the dues, there was no reply from their side also.

Multiple credit cards…bad CIBIL rating…unable to get loan now

Posted on 12 July 2008 by Name Withheld

I have been unable to get a car loan sanction from the Sate Bank of India (SBI) because of credit report in CIBIL database which showed problems in the year 2003-04.As reported to me by SBI, three sundry loans are overdue on my name. I enclosed to CIBIL, e-mails from customer care of HSBC.CITI, ICICI & ABN AMRO banks of which I used to hold credit cards. While the former three have denied any credit report sent to CIBIL against my name, ABN AMRO has requested to CIBIL for deletion of my name. CIBIL is asking for nine digit control number and expressing inability to provide me with my credit report. To the best of my knowledge, I did not hold any other card. How do I get out of this problem?

Non-maintenance of minimum balance charges on zero-balance account

Posted on 05 February 2008 by Name Withheld

I had opened a current account with CITI Bank. The executive confirmed me that this will be a ZERO Balance account. But the bank levied charges for non maintenance of minimum balance. When I complained about it, they reversed the charges. I submitted application on 19.04.2007 for closure of the account. At that time balance was Zero in the account. Till date, I have not heard from the bank. They have again debited charges for non-maintenance on 27.04.2007, on my account. Am I liable to pay the same? What action can I take against the bank? They don’t seem to pay heed to my requests!
