SBI Life to take advantage of parent bank network

SBI Life, the life insurance spin-off of the public sector banking giant, plans to step up its operations in rural and semi-urban areas by better utilizing the State Bank of India (SBI) branch network.

SBI Life, the life insurance spin-off of the public sector banking giant, plans to step up its life insurance operations in rural and semi-urban areas by better utilizing the State Bank of India (SBI) branch network. SBI currently has over 7000 branches in the country, with half of them in rural areas.

In addition, they intend to double the number of life insurance agents in 2008-09 from the current 34,000.
