SBI Life Insurance is increasing the number of branches by another 100 to its existing network of 187 branches. Network expansion is expected to increase business for this insurance arm of the public-sector bank. This may also enhance customer service.
SBI Life Insurance which currently provides cover to 7.2 million Indians is targeting another 10 million policy-holders. At the end of first three quarters for the financial year 2007-08, the premium income has increased by 101 per cent to Rs 2,748.28.
It is also concentrating on the financially weaker class to promote the micro-insurance. It has launched its first such plan called the 'Grameen Shakti' in Orissa.
