After the Nuclear Suppliers Group Nations removed a 34-year-old nuclear trade ban against India, which will facilitate new sources of power, the power sector shares increased between 4 per cent and 10 percent.
Areva T&D, Bharat Heavy Electricals and NTPC Ltd. were tradring up 11 percent, 8.3 percent and 8.6 percent respectively. ABB Ltd increased 4.4 percent, whereas Tata Power Ltd rose 5.5 per cent and Siemens gained nearly 5 per cent at 9.58 a.m.
Sensex was trading up 3.9 percent at 15,049.10 points at 9.59 a.m.
