In spite of the passenger car market being in doldrums, Hyundai Motor India is going ahead with product upgrades and new launches.
Hyundai is bringing a new variant of the 'i10', launching LPG dual fuel variants of Santro and Accent (besides a CNG variant of the Accent) and a low-priced "public car".
The Company has begun working on the low-cost car which will be launched by 2011-12. The company does not plan to compete with the Nano or the low-cost Bajaj car. The car will be low on cost and high on fuel efficiency and will be pegged below the Santro.
The new 'i10' variant will feature 1.2 litre petrol engine, 85-90 bhp. This engine will be strapped on to the 'i10' to give it more power. The new i10 will be available in the market by August this year. The diesel version of i10 will also hit the market before year end.
