Airtel customers to enjoy money transfer services

Soon, with your Airtel number, you can transfer money to your Visa credit or debit card. Bharti Airtel has entered into an agreement with Visa International and also with leadings banks in India such as ICICI, HDFC, SBI and Corporation Bank to launch money transfer services. Visa International, as per the agreement, will also offer specialised services like Mobile Money Transfer (MMT), postpaid bill payment, and prepaid recharge. Bharti Airtel has announced to launch it by March 15 2008. Apart from money transfer, Bharti Airtel clients will also be able to make payments for air, railway, and movie tickets.
Bharti Airtel's Marketing & Communications director has said, "At the first stage, only transfers within India will be possible. Later, we will launch the platform that will help residents outside India to transfer money back home via their mobiles- we are awaiting regulatory clearances for this,"
The mobile money transfer solution has been developed by mCheck, a leading provider of mobile security and payment solutions. The mCheck solution has been certified by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCIDSS). To avail the facility, Airtel customers need to download the respective applications.
The money transfer facility will be limited only to those customers who have Visa credit or debit card issued by ICICI, HDFC, or Corporation Bank. Further the receiver of the transfer amount should also have Visa credit or debit card issued by the above banks.
