The Indian Institute of Management's (IIM) Common Admission Test (CAT) committee is reportedly considering a proposal for holding the test online.
If the proposal is implemented, it will mean that the IIM aspirants can appear for the test online at specific pre-decided times during a year, instead of waiting for the entire year.
Currently, a CAT candidate has to fill a form to register for the test. This form costs Rs. 1,100 as of now. The cost of the online test, however, could be higher.
IIM's CAT committee is in talks with leading global online test company Prometric, which has helped in conduct of tests like the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
The committee is discussing issues on test procedure, timing, question data bank, test centres and other aspects of an online CAT exam.
